Greetings!

The last week of school has arrived. Summertime provides a necessary respite, an opportunity to refresh and renew. I remember a retreat director once talking about the meaning of the word recreation and the connection to the concept of God and creation. Recreation by definition is an activity that diverts, amuses or stimulates. It is an activity that renews health and spirits by relaxation. To recreate is to give new life and energy, to create anew. As spiritual beings created by God, it is important to recognize our need to renew ourselves. Jesus also recognized the need as seen in stories of when he went into the desert or went away from his disciples for a period of time. Reflection and prayer were important elements of his retreating, of renewing self ..

In closing there are a couple of informational items to pass along. Mrs. Lisa Pino has been offered a position to teach math at La Reina High School and has accepted. She has expressed her enjoyment in being part of our school community for the last few years, but is looking forward to the challenge of returning to the high school level. On behalf of our school community, I would like to thank her for the work she has done with our students and wish her the best. There are qualified applicants to fill the junior high math position and selected staff members will be joining me in interviewing applicants over the next couple of weeks. When the position has been filled, I will make the information available through the website.

During the summer I do encourage you to keep an eye on the website for school news and updates. We will be posting an evaluation form on-line at the end of this week. I would hope that you would take a few minutes to print out and complete the form and return it to school by the posted date.
